Results:

I really enjoyed listening to this song, it's just beautiful. It pains me to imagine the amount of work that went into putting all this together and perfecting it... individual drum beats in a sequence are panned differently from each other! In terms of finding instruments, I could identify the presence of almost all of them but didn't know how to name them accurately. For example, what I thought was a baritone sax was actually a bass clarinet. I have no idea where the "Tenor/Alto/Clarinet" came in, as I don't think it's what I called "trumpets" in bar 16. The "Flugelhorn" is what I described as a "higher brass instrument".

Assignment 3

Assignment 4

I took the lead vocal part in my song and multed it. This bounce consists of the two vocal tracks, one panned to the left 25 and one panned to the right 15. The one panned to the left is the original vocal piece and I did not change it very much... only adjusted the EQ to boost low-mid frequencies and cut mid-high and higher frequencies. The new voice track has an EQ that boosts the mid-high frequencies and somewhat reduces the lower frequencies. It also has a Space Designer 'large space' reverb modifier. I tried more extreme cases of panning, reverb, and nudging the second track slightly behind in time, but I felt all of this detracted from the quality of the song.

Assignment 5

I reset volume and panning levels for all tracks, except for the vocal part. Then, as suggested, I left the kick, snare, and bass guitar at center pan. I put the regular guitar to hard right pan, cymbals left pan, and "extras" hard left pan.

Assignment 6

I completed the Theta trainer up to level 4, at which point it requested I pay money to unlock the next level. I did not do this. Levels 1-4 were pretty easy, I didn't get any wrong.

Assignment 7

In this track, volume levels of less important tracks are reduced just as in assignment 1, bringing the vocal part forward. The guitar and extras are panning, giving them more room to breathe. Also, a mono-to-stereo effect on the vocal part spices it up. I tried to mult "extras" and apply a mono-to-stereo effect there but after some time I realized this did not work very well, and the dynamic between "extras" and the guitar was fine. At this point, I'm pretty sick of listening to this song.
