Self-Reflection
This is the second semester I have taken a self-directed class from Freebernmusic.com. This time, with Audio Production, just as last time, with Electronic Music, I really honestly love the format. Much of the stuff I've done in the first two units of Audio have been stuff I've gone through with EM, but after a gap of two years, it's good and necessary for me to go back over this material and relearn the powerful Logic Pro X software. In class, I have not struggled to stay on task. I'm able to focus and get my work done, and I am motivated to do so by my desire to appreciate and learn more about music and sound, especially after a very positive experience two years ago in EM. I expect to continue to be concentrated and to continue to do well in this class.
So far, I haven't had any major problems. However, when I was looking into DAW Level 2 for this unit, I wanted to make a whole song but I was unable to do so within a reasonable timeframe and had to settle with a brief, simple piece of music; right now, I'm not good enough to design an epic piece of music in the way I want to be able to, but I hope that continuing to learn Logic will allow me to do this. The Ultrabeat, too, was something I didn't spend much time on in EM and I accordingly totally forgot how it works; but, with some help from MusicTechHelpGuy, I was able to learn Ultrabeat's functions to the best of my ability. Because of these two struggles, I actually think I put just too much time into this Unit 2 relative to the product and the knowledge I got out of it. In doing this unit, I did all work in class and put no time into doing anything at home (throughout my entire time doing EM, I also never set any homework for myself) ... but, going into Unit 3 and beyond, if time allows, I want to put at least some effort into watching MusicTechHelpGuy videos or else learning a concept a day in my own time, so I can ensure I can stay at or ahead of schedule for the rest of the course and also, especially, so I can produce better work.
